Governors’ has a long history of supporting our local communities with everything from monthly food drives to school funds…
When you stay at Loldia House, you’ll get the chance to meet the Lake Naivasha locals and give back while you travel. Governors’ has a long history of supporting our communities with everything from monthly food drives to funding schools and medical clinics. We know that the key to conserving wild areas of Kenya is to work with local people and make sure they benefit directly from tourism and your stay directly contributes to our work.
We set up Loldia School Fund to support our local primary school. This means we’ve been able to completely rebuild the school and offer scholarships for students. We also set up a kindergarten and now run literacy classes for adults in the evenings. This has transformed life for the local community. Some of the brightest students have even gone on to study at university across Kenya and in South Africa.
Guests can also visit one of the nearby flower farms, where many locals work. The Lake Naivasha area is well-known for its horticulture, thanks to the fertile soil and many lakes. In fact, Kenya is one of Europe’s largest suppliers of flowers, mostly grown in Naivasha. During the visit, you’ll meet the gardeners and take a guided walk through a green house, learning about the entire process from planting to cutting and transporting. It’s a fascinating experience.
Your journey will start with one of our UK team – someone like Becky, who's travelled extensively in Kenya. They’ll shape your ideas into the trip of a lifetime. But they won't do it alone. They'll draw on the expertise of our contacts on the ground, connecting you to the people who'll make your holiday one you'll always remember - the safari rangers, local village chiefs and camp managers you'll be talking about for years to come. Start planning today, call us, email an enquiry or arrange a phone or video appointment for ideas and advice.
