Day by day
Itinerary in detail

1

Arrival in Nairobi

Welcome to Kenya. Upon arrival in Nairobi, you’ll be met at the airport for a short game drive transfer to your comfortable tented camp within Nairobi National Park. This is the only national park in the world that’s located in a city. Observing wildlife against a backdrop of city skyscrapers, within an hour of leaving the airport, is a unique and memorable experience. The rest of the day is free to relax ahead of your safari adventure. Overnight at Nairobi Tented Camp.

2

Nairobi & Amboseli

After breakfast, fly by light aircraft to Amboseli, then drive to your camp in the wilderness of the private Selenkay Conservancy. Your base for the next 2 nights is Porini Amboseli Camp, a small, remote, and eco-responsible bush camp in the heart of the reserve. Its location makes it one of the best places to head out on a walking safari, accompanied by Maasai warriors and a local guide. You can also visit an authentic Maasai village, offering an authentic insight into Maasai culture. Back at camp, relax around the outdoor fireplace and soak up sunset views over Mount Kilimanjaro. Overnight at Porini Amboseli Camp.

Things to do:

3

Amboseli

Today you can enjoy a full day 4x4 game drive in the Amboseli National Park, getting up close to the huge herds of elephants and other wildlife that live here. As well as the wildlife itself, another memorable highlight is the parks dramatic setting beneath Africa’s highest mountain, Kilimanjaro. After time to relax back at camp, another great experience is a thrilling night drive through the conservancy. This offers a great opportunity to witness the behaviour of nocturnal animals in their natural habitat. Overnight at Porini Amboseli Camp.

Things to do:

4

Amboseli & Mount Kenya

Fly to Nanyuki by light aircraft, then drive to your camp in the vast Ol Pejeta Conservancy between Mount Kenya and the Aberdare range. Porini Rhino Camp is hidden in a secluded valley in Africa's largest black rhino sanctuary, home to around 105 black rhino, 20 southern white rhino and two northern white rhinos. During your stay you can enjoy both day and night game drives, discovering the rhino and learning about how they are protected here. Overnight at Porini Rhino Camp.

Things to do:

5

Mount Kenya

Enjoy a second day in Ol Pejeta, with further game drives or a fascinating walking safari across the open plains escorted by Maasai guides. The nearby chimpanzee sanctuary is also well worth a visit. You may also choose to spend some time closer to home, where a wildlife viewing hide is carefully located to enhance sightings right in front of camp. Overnight at Porini Rhino Camp.

6

Mount Kenya & Maasai Mara

Today fly to the Olare Motorogi Conservancy, bordering the famous Maasai Mara National Reserve. Created in co-operation with 150 Maasai landowners, this 33,000-acre wilderness conservancy was set aside for wildlife conservation and low-impact tourism. During your 2-night stay at the Porini Lion Camp you’ll join morning, evening, and night drives, accompanied by highly qualified safari guides and wildlife spotters. Together you’ll seek out the various big cats that the area is famous for. The conservancy setting also offers the opportunity for guided bush walks with Maasai warriors. Overnight at Porini Lion Camp.

Things to do:

7

Maasai Mara

Today you’ll finish your wildlife adventure in memorable fashion. Firstly, you may like to consider an optional hot air balloon safari, offering an endless panorama and completely new perspective on the wildlife roaming far below. Then spend the rest of the day on a game drive exploring the incredible Mara National Reserve. Here there’s the opportunity to spot the Big Five, plenty of big cats, and a long list of other wildlife species. Returning to camp you may want to consider a final night drive, in search of nocturnal animals like aardvarks, bat-eared foxes and serval cats. Overnight at Porini Lion Camp.

Things to do:

8

Maasai Mara & Departure

Depart Olare Motorogi after breakfast, on a 50-minute light aircraft flight back to Nairobi.

Another stop?

Add a beach stay to your African adventure, perhaps on the white sands of Diani or Mombasa on the Kenyan Coast. If you want to get off the beaten track, we recommend Zanzibar's small sister island of Pemba in Tanzania or Lamu, all of which are only a short flight from Nairobi.
