 Samburu Intrepids

Immerse in the Samburu culture

This thatched oasis sits in the shade of acacia trees on the banks of the Ewaso Nyiro River.

With a location inside the reserve, Samburu Intrepids almost guarantees close encounters with wildlife including elephant, monkeys, crocodile and leopard as well as Samburu’s own rare species, the 'special five’.  Stunning views,  and a shady sunbathing area make for a great camp.

You’ll go on long early morning and late afternoon game drives in the Samburu reserve and neighbouring Buffalo Springs reserve, leaving the hot middle of the day free for you to spend as the local animals do – in the shade, submerged in water, or taking a nap. In the evenings, Samburu warriors will treat you to colourful displays and the relaxing lounge and bar hosts nature talks and slide shows.

Why we love Samburu Intrepids

  • Intrepids has a close relationship with the Samburu people who will introduce you to their culture

  • Each of the tents overlooks the river where elephants and crocodiles can often be seen

  • There's an excellent kids’ club with activities based around wildlife and the Samburu culture

  • Being close to the equator, you can stargaze the constellations of both the northern and southern hemispheres
