 Mantis Kivu Marina Bay

On the shores of Lake Kivu

This modern resort is located at the southern end of 'Rwanda's Riviera' and at the start of the Nile Trail

You’ll feel the holiday spirit the moment you step into Mantis Kivu Marina Bay’s soaring, light-filled lobby atrium with its clean-cut seating in a playful palette of dusty rose, ocean blue and buttercup yellow. It's a great spot for relaxation between chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe Forest and gorilla trekking in Virunga Volcanoes National Park.

Facilities include a well-equipped fitness centre, sauna, steam room and a spacious swimming pool with views over the lake and the islands beyond. There’s even a small boutique that stocks a carefully curated selection of Made in Rwanda products, from clothing to artwork.

Why we love Mantis Kivu Marina Bay

  • At sunrise and sunset, you can often hear the fishermen singing as they cross the lake

  • There's plenty to do here including bird watching, boat cruises, coffee tasting and cooking lessons

  • Nyungwe National Park is less than an hour away, making it a feasible alternative to a game lodge for those who enjoy the feel of a classic seaside holiday

  • From your balcony, enjoy lake vistas that are particularly appealing at sunset
