Kapama Private Game Reserve – Karula
Wildlife encounters and stylish villas
The pinnacle of luxury accommodation in Kapama Private Game Reserve.
Meaning ‘place of peace’ in the local language, Kapama Karula is the reserve’s most luxurious lodge. It's secluded and peaceful, set on banks of the Klaserie River – a location that echoes the lodge's focus on relaxation in natural surroundings. Kapama Private Game Reserve covers an area of 15,000 and is home to 40 different mammal species, including the Big Five and 350 bird species.
There is plenty to search for during morning and afternoon game drives. Led by a skilled ranger, a bush walk brings you closer to Kapama’s flora and fauna where you can learn how to identify animal tracks and the medicinal benefits of the plants. After a day of game drives and bush walks, enjoy a fireside drink in the library or take advantage of the easy access to the super stylish Karula Spa & Wellness Centre.

Rooms
Kapama Karula has 10 Superior Villas. Stylish and elegant in their design, each offers wonderful views over the Klaserie River from the private deck where you will also find the heated plunge pool. The expansive family villas offer plenty of space. The second bedroom is equipped with a flat-screen television, movies and a Wii games console although children may prefer to spend time outside in the heated pool.

Facilities
Meals are taken poolside, in the boma or privately in the library by the cosy fireside. For an evening under the stars, spend the night on a romantic sleepout deck, where a personal chef serves a five-course dinner before leaving you to enjoy the sounds of nature under a star-filled sky.
As well as a fitness centre with state-of-the-art equipment, the spa offers a range of treatments including packages combining healthy eating options and pampering between game drives.
Go tracking on a guided bush walk and learn about the medicinal benefits of the plants, join the twice-daily game drives in search of elephant, lion, leopard and zebra. For a romantic experience, there's a lantern lit sleep out platform for a night under the stars.

Kapama has reduced their carbon footprint through the installation of solar plants, bathroom amenities are refillable and the water recycling plant has eliminated plastic bottles. They support neighbouring communities by buying produce locally and Kapama also supports an anti-poaching unit.
Children over the age of 6 can join the Big Five game drives and even those under the age of 6 can still enjoy the safari experience with a Bush Bumble Drive with a focus on smaller species, birds and insects. Through fun and educational activities, the young adventurers will see how to track animal footprints and become dung detectives learning how to identify animal droppings.
