Serena Mivumo River Lodge

The boutique waterside retreat

Enjoy the splendid isolation at Serena Mivumo River Lodge, an exclusive retreat deep in the Selous Game Reserve.

Overlooking the majestic Rufiji River, the luxurious spaces and stunning setting make for an exclusive destination boasting privacy, indulgence and authentic African charm. The villas and suite are individual wooden structures built on stilts along the steep riverbank, with a sumptuous design perfectly in keeping with the landscape.

The lodge offers a selection of exclusive game drives, bush walks, boat trips and bush picnics allowing you to get out into this natural wonderland. Relax in the plunge pool and well-stocked library and at night you’ll appreciate the warmth and camaraderie of the bonfire, perfect for stargazing.

Why we love Serena Mivumo River Lodge

  • Nyerere National Park is four times the size of the Serengeti, so there’s an endless amount to see across different landscapes

  • The design is a mix of classic Edwardian – think crystal chandeliers, four-poster beds and claw-foot bathtubs – with rustic Makuti ceilings and wooden furnishings

  • You can visit the nearby hot springs where you can bathe in warm, sulphurous water surrounded by forest scenery

  • The best way to end the day at Mivumo River Lodge is to take a boat to a sandbank spot for cold sundowners by the water
