Hiroshima Holidays

Hiroshima will inspire you in ways nowhere else can. Recovered from a world-shaking historical event, it honours the past and celebrates the present. Right now, that’s fresh oysters, great coffee, Hibaku trees, perfectly picturesque gardens and a castle dancing with koi carp.

Hiroshima is the city that will move you even when you’re standing still. The first atomic bomb was dropped here in 1945, and it's etched into history. This catastrophic event obliterated the surrounding area, killing over 100,000 people. It was thanks to Hiroshima's resilience and capacity to bounce back that the city was able to recover over time. Today, it’s known for its fresh, plump oysters which are eaten all over Japan. Try the daily catch in a tiny izakaya (Japanese pub) or splurge on fine dining, pairing them with sashimi and sake.

The city comes with scenery. A sea of cherry blossoms watch over Hirishoma Castle, and Shukkeien Garden, the Japanese garden of dreams, is ripe with peaches, plum blossoms and camelias depending on the season. Our Highlights of Japan tour takes you to the Peace Memorial Park, Museum and A-Bomb, all giving you a momentous sense of place. We also journey just outside of Hiroshima to Miyajima Island, ticking off the island’s iconic floating shrine, reconnecting with nature and soaking up the beauty of a slower pace.
