Calgary

Gateway to the Rockies

Calgary is a vibrant city in the province of Alberta that’s known for its towering skyscrapers and scenic beauty. There are museums, art galleries, top restaurants, and shopping centres, but most visitors stay a day or two before setting off into the wild.

Banff

A scenic paradise

Banff National Park is home to some of the most beautiful natural scenery on earth. The views here are incredible, with endless mountains, glaciers, valleys, lakes, and forests. But Banff has much more to offer than just stunning vistas. Visitors enjoy various outdoor activities, including skiing, hiking, canoeing, rafting, and mountain biking. Plan a trip to the Columbia Icefield, where you can witness the striking blue waters of Lake Louise and Moraine Lake. You may also want to take a full-day wildlife tour to Bow Falls, Surprise Corner, and the nearby lakes to learn more about the wildlife in the area. Keep in mind that exploring Banff properly will take at least a few days.

Jasper

A wonderful wilderness

This wondrous work of nature spans 11,000 square kilometres in a rugged yet beautiful oasis featuring valleys, lakes, rivers, and mountains home to grizzly bears, wolves, moose, and elk. Countless hiking trails, snow-capped peaks, and shimmering alpine lakes are waiting to be discovered. Explore the wild side of Canada by taking a wildlife tour or hitching a lift on Canada's longest and highest guided aerial tramway, which offers panoramic views. Stand above the towering walls of Maligne Canyon to witness the spectacular waterfalls, uncover the mystery of the disappearing water at Medicine Lake, and enjoy a stroll along the shores of Maligne Lake. Look up at the sky at night as Jasper is a designated Dark Sky Preserve where you can admire the stars.

The Canadian

Jasper to Vancouver

Let the train take the strain on a 24-hour railway journey aboard The Canadian across the Rockies. Boarding in Jasper, you'll spend the whole day and night aboard, waking the next morning in vibrant Vancouver. You can choose between a selection of classes on board including Sleeper Plus Upper or Lower Berths, Sleeper Plus Class Cabin and Prestige Sleeper.

Vancouver

City splendour

This waterfront city is known for its fantastic cuisine and thriving arts, theatre, and music scenes. With a lifestyle that many envy and mountain and seaside adventures to be had, it's no wonder this cosmopolitan destination is so highly regarded. Visit Granville Island, a vibrant centre of creativity and the location of a beloved market. Take a floatplane flight to Vancouver Island or experience the beauty of Vancouver's coastal rainforest by walking across the Capilano Suspension Bridge. Plan for at least three days to explore the city or more if you're also keen to visit Vancouver Island.

Alaska

Take a week-long cruise

Exploring Alaska's 27,000 glaciers and three million lakes is like entering a icy wonderland. The sheer size of these natural wonders will leave you in awe, and the wildlife that inhabits these lands is just as impressive as the beautiful scenery. Compare a modern Celebrity ship with one of Holland America Line's classic ships – they are both elegant cruise lines that but operate slightly different routes through Alaska. You'll need to decide whether you prefer a stateroom with a balcony or an inside cabin that doesn't have a window. Or finish your trip on a high and opt for a suite.
