Emerald Lake Lodge, Yoho National Park
A spectacular natural setting combines with a cosy mountain lodge atmosphere.
Emerald Lake is a photographer’s paradise and you’ll be part of the picture as you stay at this waterside lodge. You’ll also get to see the lake when the crowds disappear for the day and before they arrive the next day. From days of travellers arriving by horse-drawn coach from the nearby railroad, the lodge has been a favourite with those seeking fresh air and jaw-dropping mountain backdrops. There’s a real cosy vibe here with roaring fires lit in the old stone fireplaces and plenty of quiet spots to retreat to with a good book. And then there’s those glimpses of turquoise-water views through the trees at almost every turn.
There are plenty of Alpine activities right on your doorstep and as the lodge is open year round, you can choose from a range of seasonal experiences. During the summer, you can rent a canoe across the mirror-like surface of the lake or hike to lofty view points while in the winter you can go snowshoeing and get some great snow-dusted shots of the lake and lodge from over on the opposite shore.
