An unbeatable location, great dining and beautiful outdoor pool make this historical hotel a must-stay.
History lovers will be in their element here. This former 19th-Century hospital and convent turned hotel is pretty special. Despite its recent transformation, the iconic building manages to retain its old-world charm. Its pastel pink façade draws you into a grand entrance, setting the scene for the rest of the hotel. Once you’re inside, geometric porcelain tiles guide you to your room where historical figures grace the walls. There’s a restaurant serving up delicious local delicacies, a pool with a picturesque courtyard setting and a spa complete with a sauna and Turkish bath. The location is hard to beat too, just a stone’s throw from the centre of Ponta Delgada.

There are 92 rooms here, ranging from Standard to Junior Suites. The décor leans towards the neutral side with soft furnishings giving a cosy feel. Feature walls are adorned with past figures, paying homage to the hotel’s rich history. Standard, Deluxe and Superior rooms come with all the amenities you need but if you fancy something a little more swish, choose from the Junior Suites. With a sofa bed for the little ones, they’re perfect for family getaways. Some suites also come with balconies.

The Versatile restaurant is one of the hotel’s standout features with grand high ceilings and an attractive monochrome colour palette. Offering regional dishes, it’s gives you a real taste of the Azores. Overlooking the inner courtyard, food is also served with a pool view. In the morning, a delicious buffet spread awaits whilst in the evenings you can take your pick from a buffet style dinner or a la carte. There are also 2 bars to quench your thirst. Splash Bar is your go-to during the day, turning into Souls and Blues Bar once the sun goes down.

Families are welcome at Vila Gale Collection S.Miguel. There’s a kid’s club, The Nep, to keep the little ones entertained along with suites with spacious layouts and sofa beds that are perfect for the whole gang. Please note that children are not supervised at The Nep.
