The Shang-Du spa* is Eastern in style, with a focus on Silk Road region treatments, alongside more local therapies and amenities such as a hammam and sauna. Ayurvedic massages and Middle Eastern peels and massages feature on the extensive spa menu alongside water therapies, facials and European massages. The minimum age at the spa is 16 years.

There’s a selection of pools at Xanadu, including two outdoor infinity pools, an indoor swimming pool at the spa and a kid’s pool. If you’re travelling as a family, you’ll be sure of a warm welcome at Xanadu. There are kid-centric facilities such as a club for four to 12 year olds (and 0 to four year olds with parental supervision), a shallow pool that’s great for cooling off and splashing around and a large playground. For time together, there are plenty of activities to embrace such as on-land and on-water sports, bowling and table tennis.

The larger suites are set up perfectly for families – particularly the two-bedroom Elegance and Lavendar Suites and the Three-Bedroom Royal Suite. They each have a separate living area but multiple rooms (one at least that has twin beds) which means once the kids are in bed, you don’t have to keep totally quiet for the rest of the evening. Cots and a baby kit are provided for any infants and a baby-sitting service* is also available if you want to try out one of the à la carte restaurants and catch some of the later-in-the-day entertainment.

In the Main Restaurant, children are specifically catered for with their own buffet selection; there are highchairs for the smallest guests.
