Beautiful Kandolhu presents the best of both worlds. It’s a tiny, tranquil island with a lush green interior encircled by glorious white sands and coral reefs, yet it has a choice of restaurants and rooms more typical of a larger island.

Rooms
The 30 elegant, Maldivian-style villas have modern interiors, almost city-like in style, with wooden floors and high ceilings, and include thoughtful extras like iPads. Beach Villas have huge open-air bathrooms with jetted bathtub. For a beach villa with pool, opt for a Pool Villa or one of the two-storey Duplex Pool Villas – rare to find in the Maldives. The Ocean Villas and Ocean Pool Villas are reached by an overwater jetty, with steps straight into the ocean.
Situated on the west side of the island, with large open-air bathroom with jetted bathtub, and lovely spacious outdoor deck just steps from the water’s edge. These villas sleep maximum two people.

Each of the five à la carte restaurants is small and intimate – the Japanese restaurant, Banzai, has just six seats. There’s a good choice of options, from casual eateries to fancier options for indulgent evenings.
Banzai
Seating just six guests, Banzai serves sushi and sashimi, plus meat and seafood grilled to perfection on the teppan.
The Market
An al fresco restaurant serving a full buffet breakfast and an a la carte menu for lunch and dinner.
Olive
In an enviably elevated position with panoramic views of the ocean, Olive serves classic Mediterranean dishes and delicacies matched with exceptional wines.
Sea Grill
The perfect beachside setting, the Sea Grill opens at sunset for freshly caught seafood served from the grill.
Ata Roa
Serving light lunches of delicious tacos and ceviche inspired by Mexico and Peru.
Vilu Bar
A classic beach bar serving tropical fresh juices and cocktails. Look out for occasional movie nights on the beach and Full Moon cocktail gatherings.
We love the views from Olive and its delightfully fresh dishes are paired with delectable wines.

Varu Spa features over 20 treatments, including facials, body wraps, massages, and dedicated therapies for men. There’s a gym in the middle of the island.
Located just a few minutes from some of the best dive sites in North and South Ari Atoll, Kandolhu is a favourite among Maldives diving resorts. There are three dives each day on board a Maldivian dhoni. Night dives, half-day, and full-day trips are also available. The Dive School offers PADI and SSI-certified courses for beginners and adventures for experienced divers.
A wide range of non-motorised water sports are offered, including windsurfing, stand-up paddle boarding, catamaran sailing, sail boating, kayaking and glass-bottomed kayaking.
Children age 6 and above are welcome.

Kandolhu's small size and popularity mean that you'll need to book early, be flexible on dates or room types, or consider combining it with another island such as Kuramathi Maldives.

If you’re looking for an authentic, relaxed small Maldivian island, then do consider Kandolhu, it was superb in every way and a real tonic! The views, sunsets and nature were amazing!! A huge thank you to the island hospitality, service and garden-teams who made every day perfect! We had 9 nights in a duplex pool villa which was very well equipped and comfortable. The food and drinks in the main restaurants were superb! We snorkeled every day and even one evening which was an experience to see the reef come to life at night – Kandolhu does have a wonderful house reef, an underwater garden of Eden! We would love to come back and stay next year as we weren’t ready to go home on our departure date!

The hotel urgently needs to renovate the overwater villas. The rooms will be very nice when they are renovated, customer satisfaction will increase. The underwater world of the hotel is beyond wonderful. You will see very beautiful fishes.

If you look for a natural, authentic small island? Visiting Kandolhu was a fantastic holiday - or call it a perfect retreat from everyday life with NO rush! The nature was amazing and, the staff made every day perfect! We had 12 nights in a water villa, we did snorkel around the whole island and enjoyed fish, turtles, reef sharks and nurse sharks not to mention a beautiful coral reef. Food and drinks were served with love in all the restaurants, and garden-staff made the island look beautiful 24-7. Even our visit with the island doctor was a professional experience. We would love to come back and repeat it all ....and as we have been visiting Maldives many times, we hope this recommendation speaks for itself.
