A revamped resort with two beaches and uber-cool interiors with a hint of African influence.
This Indian Ocean escape wraps invitingly around a cove at the northern tip of Mauritius. There’s no impersonal vibe like with some big chain hotels – staff will greet you by name and you’ll be spoilt in exceptional LUX* fashion. Lush gardens of bougainvillaea and banyans cocoon a spa, tennis courts, two swimming pools, fitness centre and golf driving range. Pick from two stunning beaches: caramel crescents of sand edged by palms. The bathwater-warm lagoon is the perfect spot to pass away the time.
Why we love LUX* Grand Gaube, Mauritius
-
The whole design is fresh and inviting, with serene white spaces contrasting with cool street art and bold wall murals
-
There’s an adults-only area with a tranquil pool and beach as well as a superb club for children
-
You can go on a delicious culinary journey that takes you around the globe from South America to Turkey via Asia and Italy
-
It’s hard to imagine a more soothing natural setting than this, with two secluded bays in which to laze, swim and snorkel
Rooms
Kelly Hoppen's also cast her stylish wand over the 186 rooms, accenting gallery-white walls with a fashionably eclectic mix of woven African baskets, hand-made ceramics, vintage rattan furniture and geometric tiles.
For romance and privacy, we suggest an Ocean Junior Suite, which comes with a four-poster bed and sea views from the standalone bathtub on the secluded balcony.
Facilities

Gourmands will be in their element, with six restaurants, nine bars, a café and an ice-cream parlour dotted throughout the resort.
The Palm Court
Dining counters flank live cooking stations at the main restaurant, where chefs rustle up everything from Mediterranean tapas to dishes showcasing flavours of South East Asia. Open for breakfast and dinner, it is also home to a bakery and dessert bar, plus a wine table experience and cocktail bar.
Beach Rouge
This breezy day-to-night hangout offers a light menu and refreshing drinks – all served with glorious ocean views, of course, plus a live DJ after dark.
BB’s
In the shade of an ancient banyan tree close to the adults-only pool, you’ll find this gourmet burger shack, where freshly grilled burgers and hot dogs (child portions and vegan versions included) are rustled up from 12.30 to 5pm.
Bodrum Blue
Beneath a canopy of rattan lamps, this tranquil Turkish restaurant on its own little peninsula is the place to come to lunch or dine on the likes of Levantine mezze and succulent kebabs.
INTI
The island’s first Latin American restaurant, draws upon the gastronomic influences of Peru in its evening-only offerings, from a ceviche and tiradito bar to an open grill kitchen and a fresh pastry station.
Creole Smokehouse
Twice a week, by the lit-up banyan tree, this authentic Creole smokehouse serves up plates of cured fish and meats (be sure to sample the charcoal-grilled prawns).
Café LUX*
From early until late, you’ll find superb coffee made from ethically sourced beans, wellness shakes and delicious cakes.
G&T 100 Club
Gin-lovers should hotfoot it to this beachside bar to sample concoctions that pay homage to the humble juniper.
Grab a seat on the outdoor terrace at INTI for fabulously inventive Peruvian food – and don’t miss the punchy pisco.

We had the pleasure of staying at LUX Grand Gaube in Mauritius in December, and our experience was truly exceptional. From the initial booking process to our arrival and throughout our stay, everything was handled with care and professionalism. The resort is absolutely beautiful, offering a stunning setting and immaculate cleanliness throughout. We opted for an upgrade to a LUX Suite on the first floor, which provided breathtaking views and was perfect for our stay. The facilities at the hotel were excellent, offering everything we needed for a luxurious and relaxing holiday. One of the standout experiences was the “JunkArt Studio”, where we had the opportunity to create unique artwork using recycled materials. It was an incredibly creative and interactive activity, and we loved having a personalised piece of memorabilia to take home. The dining options at the hotel were brilliant. We particularly loved Palm Court, which offered a diverse selection of dishes for both breakfast and dinner, catering to all tastes. A special mention to Executive Chef David Miras, who manages the impressive variety of offerings with great efficiency and attention to detail. His support and hospitality were greatly appreciated during our stay. The café was a wonderful spot in the afternoons, with great options from the bar menu, including healthy choices that we really appreciated. We also thoroughly enjoyed our meals at Bodrum and Beach Rouge, both offering fantastic cuisine and a great atmosphere. A special mention to the Creole Smokehouse, where the food was outstanding, though the presence of insects slightly affected the experience. Nonetheless, the overall food quality and service were excellent. The service at LUX Grand Gaube was truly outstanding, with staff who were attentive, kind, and always ready to assist. Their professionalism and dedication to ensuring our comfort did not go unnoticed. I would especially like to express my heartfelt gratitude to Chef Tesigen Ramen, who went above and beyond to provide personalised meals that made such a difference during our stay. His kindness, thoughtfulness, and incredible attention to detail truly made a lasting impression on us, and we are so grateful for the care and effort he put into ensuring our comfort. A special thank you also goes to Nurse Sarista, who was incredibly quick to respond and showed such care and dedication in following up to ensure everything was taken care of. Her professionalism and kindness made us feel truly supported, and we are so appreciative of her efforts. Another thank you to Nurse Chavvi, who was always kind and helpful, ensuring we had everything we needed with a warm and caring approach. Throughout our stay, the staff demonstrated an incredible level of attentiveness and discretion, ensuring we were always well taken care of. Their genuine hospitality and thoughtfulness truly stood out and made our experience unforgettable. Upon reflection, we would probably opt out of the all-inclusive package next time, as we found we didn’t make the most of it - particularly as we’re not big drinkers. In hindsight, we would have chosen the meal plan only and paid for drinks separately, which may have suited us better. Would absolutely return! We had a wonderful holiday, and I would highly recommend LUX Grand Gaube to anyone looking for a luxurious and memorable experience in Mauritius. The combination of beautiful surroundings, excellent facilities, and outstanding service makes it a place we would love to return to in the future. A huge thank you to all the staff who made our stay so special – we truly appreciate everything you did for us!

Lux Grand Gaube is by far the best holiday resort I have stayed at in Mauritius. We came for our honeymoon and we were absolutely blown away. We were so spoilt by the hotel with freebies included in our stay for our honeymoon. Besides that though, the resort itself is large and lovely with activities included. There are tennis and padel courts for those interested, a cinema and a spa/wellness centre, a little “Junk Art” museum with activities with Mario. The message in a bottle game was such a fun touch. The hotel is neat and well maintained with decorative elements (we loved the green car and phone booth) and lots of comfort elements freely available. ALL the food was so delicious- there are 4 restaurants besides the buffet just in case the buffet got boring. Not that it did, the buffet itself was extensive with so much tasty food. In our room, the minibar was included and replenished daily!! Such a happy little surprise. We were literally want for nothing. There is an adults only area which was where we spent a lot of our time. It is breathtaking with swinging beds by the pool, 2 of the 4 restaurants and a separate bar. Everyone, and I mean everyone was so so kind and lovely. A special thank you to the pool boys who were amazing, bringing us drinks and towels at the pool and just being so willing to help at all times, to Elena at reception, Dhiren, Mirthe, Ashwan and all the other amazing servers at the restaurants. Thank you for taking such good care of us. We truly felt so special. And to Jesscica, who made sure our room was spotless and comfortable, thank you so much for your amazing work. We will definitely be back to this gorgeous, welcoming, comfortable resort. Until next time, Kuraisha and Simba (“Jay” :))
