Mauritius Twin Centre

For a relatively small island, Mauritius packs a lot in. You can explore the tropical gardens, lofty mountains and hidden waterfalls of inland Mauritius, as well as make the most of its picture-perfect beaches.

Mauritius shares the reputation for stunning beaches, excellent diving and fabulous beach resorts that you'll find on other islands within the Indian Ocean, but here there's a little more to do if going beyond the beach is on your holiday wishlist. It's famed for it's championship golf courses, buzzing markets and street food from it's diverse cultural heritage and the simplicity of getting around the island to explore.

Inland Mauritius

The beauty within

Begin your holiday at Lakaz Chamarel Exclusive Lodge in the Black River Gorges National Park. At this intimate mountain retreat, it feels like you’ve been let in on a best-kept secret – you’ll be warmly welcomed by the owners and the personal touch is clear throughout. It’s easy to get out and explore; you’re close to Chamarel’s Seven Coloured Earth and there are lots of paths from the estate leading to peaks, valleys and waterfalls.

The beach

Paradise shores

Make your way back down to sea level and one of the stunning beach resorts which are scattered around the coast. To the south, you'll find wild beaches, grand estates and the iconic landscapes of La Morne Brabant; up in the north, there's the lively town of Grand Baie and a cluster of bays and off-shore islands; and the breezy east coast has spectacular beaches, marine parks and high-end resorts with private island vibes. Finally, there's the west coast were you can spot dolphins, explore the underwater world and relax on white-sand shores.
