Kings Pavilion

A royal retreat

Slip away to this under-the-radar pocket of Kandy, surrounded by tropical gardens where birds and butterflies flutter in the trees.

Kings Pavilion is set on just under three acres of lush gardens with marvellous views of the Hanthana and Knuckles Mountain ranges. It’s near Kandy, just a short 10-minute drive from the centre, but a delightfully peaceful place to retreat to after adventure-filled days. With nine rooms, this boutique hotel combines modern style with traditional Kandyan arts and culture, featuring beautiful batik wall hangings and artwork depicting Kandyan dancers.

Why we love Kings Pavilion

  • There’s a wonderful sense of place here, thanks to a local menu and regional artwork adorning the rooms

  • The small but refreshing infinity pool is surrounded by lawns and gardens and has city views from its hillside position

  • For a hotel of diminutive proportions, you’ll happily still find a spa and sauna — perfect for soothing weary muscles if you’ve taken advantage of the superb nature hikes this area is renowned for

  • Stroll along the hotel’s footpaths to spot a variety of butterflies and bees and listen to the birdsong of over 44 species
