Step into a real-life fairy tale at this family-owned hotel on the edge of Lake Orta.
You’re in for a magical stay at Hotel Giardinetto. With a backdrop of tranquil waters and leafy green hills, its lakeside location is simply stunning. It’s also perfectly positioned to explore the medieval village of Orta San Giulio. Views here are on another level. You can soak them up from your bed, whilst sipping Negronis on the rooftop or taking a dip in the outdoor pool. The restaurant also comes with a view, along with impeccable service and mouth-watering Italian delights. There’s plenty of lakeside adventures to be had here too. Glide over the lake on a paddle board or take a sun-soaked stroll alongside it.

Rooms
There are 59 rooms in total, all with a modern décor. The classic rooms are looking extra chic thanks to a recent renovation, but their views aren’t as Insta-worthy as the others. If you’re wanting to wake up to picture-perfect panoramas every morning then choose either the Classic Lake View Rooms or the more spacious Superior Lake View Rooms. Both come with balconies overlooking the waters, perfect for morning espressos or evening aperitifs. There’s also a family room if you’ve brought the littles ones along too.

Views accompany every sip and every bite at Giardinetto. The restaurant is renowned in the local area and for a very good reason. Not only does it boast a stunning setting on the shores of Lake Orta, but the food here is incredible with regional specialities made up of the freshest ingredients. There’s also a wine cellar with over 450 Italian, French and international labels. When you fancy a drink, head to the rooftop with its lake-facing terrace. Sip aperitifs to sunset vistas before dinner or enjoy a night cap alongside the glistening waters afterwards.

Adventures are never-ending at Lake Orta. It’s the perfect spot for walking, with routes to suit all abilities. And with picture-perfect views, getting your steps in here is much more enjoyable than at home. If you’re looking for water-based activities, you’re also in luck. When you’re not diving right in, canoes, boats and stand-up paddleboards are all available to rent from the hotel.

Beautiful location with wonderful staff who are happy to help with any queries. The lakeside rooms are very comfortable and the views are outstanding. The restaurant's seasonal menu was delicious and wait staff paired the food with superb wines. The lake's environment is magnificent for interesting walks with it's incredible micro climate where you find bananas next to camellias. You need a car to explore the local area or the hotel can organise a driver or taxi. Highly recommend Hotel Giardinetto for a perfect holiday.

Spent 6 nights at this hotel as part of a small tour group. No-one could fault any aspect of it. The rooms were very comfortable, with a fabulous view of the lake. The food was excellent, and the staff were amazing. I would definitely recommend a stay there.

We visited the hotel with a coach party. The weather was unkind but the hotel was very good. They catered for my dietary needs and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is in a lovely location overlooking the lake.
