Mont Rochelle

The Winelands’ most romantic spot

A gorgeous vineyard hotel with panoramic mountain views and a wonderful boutique feel.

Sir Richard Branson’s Mont Rochelle hotel and vineyard sits on a vine-clad hilly spot surrounded by the Wineland’s dramatic mountains. This wonderful vantage point overlooks the pretty town of Franschhoek. Its galleries, shops and restaurants and only a short shuttle ride away that’s available twice daily. The grounds sprawl across 100 acres but the service still feels personal and warm, an attribute accredited to the passionate staff that welcome every guest like family.

Enjoy picnics in the vineyards, wine tastings in the 150-year old cellar or a pampering session in the in-house spa. The pool is similarly inviting with uninterrupted countryside views. Children, or 'Little Corkers' as they are called at the estate, are welcome.

Why we love Mont Rochelle

  • You are just a 20-minute stroll into charming Franschhoek

  • While parents are wine tasting, they do a blind juice tasting for children

  • If you want to explore other wineries, The Franschhoek Wine Tram stops at Mont Rochelle

  • Three times a week there are complimentary tours of the vineyard and wine cellar
