 Rocky's Boutique Resort

Discover a hidden world

Perfect for a romantic escape, this atmospheric hideaway offers a quiet setting and delicious cuisine.

Set over three small beaches that overlook the tranquil Gulf of Thailand, it’s clear that this beautiful hotel has been designed with privacy and indulgence in mind. Its boutique size makes it feel like an intimate haven that’s far away from the everyday world, complemented by the contemporary Thai décor and authentic atmosphere.

Why we love Rocky's Boutique Resort

  • It’s in a secluded cove right on the beach – or three beaches, to be exact – but only minutes from the shops and bars of Lamai

  • You’ll be struck by the contemporary Thai design from the moment you arrive at its impressive curved wood entranceway

  • There are fish-filled coral reefs on the doorstep for snorkelling discoveries and kayaks for adventures out at sea

  • Foodies will love the quirky espresso bar, the beachside fine-dining restaurant and the Thai cooking classes on offer

We booked Rocky's after much research including reading past TA reviews. We wanted a small boutique hotel but it appears that since these earlier reviews the hotel has built additional rooms which makes it feel cramped with pressure on the facilities - see below. We would be interested to see what previous repeaters make of the changes. We booked a sea view room. Unfortunately the initial room we were shown had at best a partial sea view but certainly a good view of the back of the kitchen/restaurant building and their aircon units. All credit to the hotel team as we were changed to a room in the new loft room building which had a magnificent panoramic sea view - not to mention the largest double bed we have ever experienced. The room was very large adequate for 4 people but a lack of draw space for storage - just two draws (excluding the tiny bedside ones) Because of the additional rooms we felt that at times there were insufficient sunbeds (not helped by the usual bed blockers). We can only speak of the garden swimming pool as we did not use the sea view pool following a nasty fall my wife had there as it provides the main access to the beach and the floor tiles were very wet and slippery. Our thanks to Polly from the hotel who quickly provided a much need ice pack for my wife's head. We spoke to other guests who also had falls and perhaps this is something the hotel needs to look at before someone is seriously hurt. Overall the staff team were very friendly and helpful. Difficult to pick out a single member of staff though Joke impressed with his quick and discrete bar service. The food at the restaurant was good and not over priced though of course if you added a bottle of wine this doubled the price. Breakfast was not up to the standard we have come to expect in many Thai hotels. The fruit was limited and the pastries stale. The cooked to order food was however usually good. Our major complaint was the number of smokers in the public areas (including IN the swimming pools if you can believe it). Over the years we have become used to smoking being confined to designated areas in hotels and public places. This does not appear to be the case at Rocky's.

Great resort style accomodation, clean pool, clean facilities, clean beaches, great and friendly staff, close to cafes, restaurants etc. Great location beautiful sunsets, beautiful sunrise, comfortable bedding, large and spacious rooms, massive bed, private pools very well kept and felt private whilst maintaining ocean views

Small and intimate boutique style. Very attentive staff. Relaxed vibe around the resort. Two lovely pools and a small private beach with paddle boarding and kayaks on tap. Half hour slightly tricky (poor pavement) walk to Lamai Beach with lots of nightlife. Great breakfast. Evening meals and events very expensive vs local options. Rooms spacious, clean, great. Nice touches such as beach bag, sun hats. Only downside was poor service at the Thai dinner evening.
