Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Disney themed from top to toe
Plunge headfirst into your favourite movies at Disney’s Art of Animation. Themed around four timeless films, you can sleep in a Cars-style room and swim with Nemo and friends in the Big Blue Pool.
Expect full-on fun here. This vast Disney ‘value’ resort has splashily themed rooms in the style of The Little Mermaid, Finding Nemo, The Lion King, and Cars. Keeping everyone fed and watered is simple, thanks to grab-and-go style dining rather than a table service restaurant – but that might be all you’re looking for when you’ve got busy days in the parks planned. If you can handle more action when you return from the theme parks, there’s always plenty going on, from activities around the pools to outdoor movie screenings and marshmallow toasting by the campfire.

If you want a complete Disney immersion, this is the ideal resort. Even the rooms are fully themed – no cursory nods, subtle motifs, or the odd poster, the designers went to town here.

Handily, there’s a Skyline gondola station, whisking you near-on effortlessly to Disney’s Hollywood Studios and EPCOT. Plus, free buses shuttle you to the other theme parks, water parks, and the Disney Springs shopping area.

Disney’s Art of Animation is an excellent option for larger families. Its suites can accommodate up to six guests in a combination of fixed beds, sofa beds, and a ‘table’ bed that converts from a dining area to a sleeping space. Smaller families also love the family suites for the kitchenettes and so kids have a separate room to sleep in.

The Big Blue Pool, in the Finding Nemo area, is the biggest pool at Walt Disney World, with an interactive play zone. There are two other pools too, including a Cars-themed option and another in The Little Mermaid area.
Rooms
Aside from The Little Mermaid rooms that sleep four in two fixed beds, Disney’s Art of Animation primarily comprises family suites that accommodate six. You get a bedroom, a living area with a sofa bed and pull-down bed, and a small kitchenette, and a bathroom. The rooms and suites all feature devices which can be activated by saying “Hey, Disney!”. You can make requests, ask for information, and interact with Disney characters.

Facilities
Eating out is quick, simple, and super casual. The food court-style Landscape of Flavour has all bases covered throughout the day, including allergy-friendly menus. And by the Finding Nemo-themed pool, you’ll find a bar serving refreshments all day. Of course, when you’re ready for more variety, there are options galore in the parks, other hotels, and at Disney Springs.

This is a big hotel, so there are three large pools so you can find space when you’re ready for a pool day. The Big Blue Pool is the largest resort pool in Walt Disney World, complete with an interactive play zone that makes it particularly popular. You can also search out the Cozy Cone Pool in the Cars area and Flippin’ Fins Pool in The Little Mermaid area.
If you’re looking for waterslides, you’ll need to look at Disney’s ‘moderate’ or ‘deluxe’ hotels or plan a day at one of the water parks.
Disney chose beloved, timeless movies for the themes here that appeal to both adults and kids, but the colourful theming makes this resort hotel especially well-suited to young children. When you check in, you’ll receive a schedule of events, from daytime arts and crafts sessions to the timings of Movies Under the Stars and campfire marshmallow toasting.
The layout of the family suites are ideal if you’re travelling with little ones, too. The kitchenette is handy for preparing snacks and chilling drinks, and they’ll have a separate sleeping space too, so it’s an option worth considering for smaller families too.
It’s handy to know there’s a self-service laundry here. It can save on packing if you plan to do a wash midway through your trip or if there’s a favourite t-shirt that ends up with ice cream on it!
