Jagged mountains add drama to this paradisiacal island that’s encircled by cerulean waters and boasts a fascinating cultural heritage that has influenced its food and architecture.
Corfu may be a large island, but it has the personality of one far smaller. Rustic towns hint at the miscellany of its European influences, their buildings baked and bleached by long summers. The hospitality is friendly and warm, with deliciously fresh and hyper-local menus that are distinctly Corfiot.
Many of Corfu’s waters are blue to the point of surrealism, where milky turquoise hues mingle with sapphire and bright aquamarine, and it's easy to find a quiet spot on a secluded beach and appreciate the view. But the temptation of Corfu’s fascinating past may prove too hard to resist both the Achilleion Palace, an Empress’ splendid summerhouse, and the Palaio Frouio that stand ready to tell their stories about the island.
Our Corfu experts can reveal more about this Ionian island and plan the perfect trip.

Hidden Corfu
This extensive sightseeing tour takes you away from the main tourist trail to explore Corfu’s beautiful landscapes and landmarks. We’ll pass picturesque bays as we drive along the north coast, travelling through Kalami, Kouloura, Nissaki, Barbati and Ipsos. On a clear day, you might even spot Albania. We’ll stop at stunning Paleokastritsa, where idyllic coves with soft sands and turquoise waters await. Here, there will be time to go swimming and have lunch (not included) in one of the charming Greek taverns. After time on the beach, you’ll be taken to a rocky outcrop to see the oldest inhabited monastery on the island and view its remarkable art collection. More jaw-dropping views lie in wait at the Bella Vista viewpoint, which overlooks Paleokastritsa and the sea beyond, followed by a visit to Makrades to learn about the island’s various herbs. Lastly, we’ll continue over the Troumbeta Pass to Roda Acharavi, where you can gaze out at the north, east and west coasts – the perfect end to a scenic day discovering the island.

Where is Corfu?
The Greek island of Corfu is off mainland Greece’s northwest coast, circled by the Ionian Sea.
Corfu Town
The island’s capital is disarmingly lovely, with Venetian architecture flanking cobbled streets. It’s honoured with UNESCO World Heritage status for its outstanding authenticity and architectural integrity.
East coast resorts
The areas of Dassia and Messonghi on Corfu’s east coast enchant visitors with their beautiful beaches and relaxed ambience.
North Corfu
Head to the north of Corfu for bays and coves along the shoreline, only interrupted by taverna-lined towns. Hire a car and set out on an exploration, hopping from village to village on a scenic drive to the summit of Mount Pantokrator. Or pay a visit to the beautiful white cliffs at Cape Drastis in the northwest corner, kissed by azure waters.
West Corfu
The west coast of Corfu is wild and dramatic and has a far-flung feel. Porto Timoni Beach and Rovinia Beach are both secluded stretches of sand only reached on foot or boat. Or you could search out Angelokastro, a Byzantine castle perched on a peak near Paleokastritsa.
Hilltop villages
Hire a car and zigzag your way up to the island's heartland through traditional Corfiot villages where time has seemingly stood still, and olive groves and ancient churches line the roads.
