This freshly renovated classic resort has a relaxed vibe and is set on one of the island’s best beaches.
A palm-lined walkway adorned with fountains and a sweeping staircase lead to the entrance of the attractive plantation-style Manor House at the centre of this popular resort. However, the grand façade belies the delightfully laidback atmosphere and casual feel within. The oceanfront lagoon pool is very family-focused with a designated children’s area while the south pool is more tranquil. The stunning beach boasts over 500 metres of white sand so it never feels crowded and the warm waters of the lagoon are ideal for watersports.

Rooms
The 238 recently renovated rooms are set in Creole-style villas that are arranged around the tropical gardens. Many of these are located just steps from the ocean. Deluxe Sea View Rooms are set on the first floor of the villas while slightly larger Premium Sea View Rooms are located on the ground floor. The Deluxe and Premium Beach Front Rooms are similar but located closer to the beach. The first-floor Premium Suites and the ground-floor Executive Deluxe Suites have separate living rooms. For families, the Premium Suites are generously proportioned, with twin sofabeds in the separate living room, and are close to the beach and its facilities are located in beachfront villa houses.

With three equally inviting restaurants offering Asian, Mediterranean and Mauritian cuisine, access to those at the neighbouring sister resort La Pirogue and even a roving beach cart, there’s more than enough variety for guests of all ages.
Le Patio
Next to the pool, the elegant, open-plan main restaurant offers continental breakfast for early birds, and generous buffets for breakfast and themed dinners.
Maré Maré Beach Restaurant
Pop-up chef concept where the Mediterranean menu is refreshed by a professional guest chef every year. This years celebrity chef, Reuben Riffel, invites you to indulge flavoursome barbeque dishes.
Sports Bar
Located, appropriately enough, next to the tennis courts, this lively bar has a big screen showing major sporting events.
La Brasserie
At this sophisticated bar at the heart of Sugar Beach, there are international beers on tap, tropical cocktails and an array of spirits. There are also light bites at lunchtime and afternoon tea.
Buddha-Bar Beach
With seafood and sushi as specialities, this is a great beach side spot for lunch or dinner.
Eating pizza fresh from the wood-fired oven at Maré Maré's Beach Lounge is one of life’s simple pleasures that all the family will enjoy.

With Asian-inspired architecture and tranquil pools, the Cinq Mondes spa provides a calm and very grown-up retreat in the heart of Sugar Beach. The large hammam complex is particularly appealing, and there is also a steam room, heated and cold plunge pools. Treatments* are based on natural ingredients and techniques from around the world.Â
Sunrise yoga and Tae Bo classes with a qualified teacher are available.
The fitness centre has a range of state-of-the-art cardio machines, and there are also group aerobics, step, Bodyblade and stretching classes.
There are six floodlit courts for tennis, and you can play badminton, beach football, beach volleyball, table tennis and bocci ball.
Scuba diving and PADI Open Water courses are available at extra cost from Sundivers, based in La Pirogue.
The Boathouse offers free activities including snorkelling (equipment available only when on an organised excursion), kayaking, Laser sailing, windsurfing and glass bottom boat trips, while water-skiing is available at extra cost.
Solar panels have been installed to heat all of the water for the guestrooms and elsewhere in the resort. Guests can use the repurposed bicycles in the gardens to generate electricity and stay fit at the same time. At least 70% of the food used in the kitchen is sourced from local farms and suppliers. A share of the profits goes to support community projects and the company’s own Sun Children Cancer Trust.
The Sun Kids' Club is based at a charming house in the middle of the resort’s gardens. Inspired by the Hansel and Gretel fairytale, it features ‘candy’ pillars and a thatched roof. We love the jungle gym, kiddie pool and ‘milkshake’ shower.
Premium Suites are elegant first floor rooms with a king-size bed and a double sofa bed in the lounge that can unfold into two twin beds for the kids. These rooms consist of a bedroom, a bathroom and two separate toilets; and come with a garden or sea view, plus a spacious private terrace. They are located in the separate luxurious Creole-styled 'villa houses'.
